Heating and cooling equipment serving non-apartment spaces are subject to inspections, but not testing. For example, duct leakage testing is not required for a rooftop unit serving corridors, although the ductwork is subject to duct sealing inspections and the flow rates must be measured to confirm compliance with ASHRAE 62.1 outdoor air rates. Exhaust risers serving janitor closets or trash rooms are not subject to duct leakage testing either, however, central exhaust risers serving apartments are.
