Does ENERGY STAR cover radiant barrier paints as an ENERGY STAR roof product? Follow

ENERGY STAR does not label radiant barrier paints. Reflective insulation, also called a radiant barrier, is a material (usually aluminum, but it can be in a paint) designed to block radiant heat transfer across open spaces. It is always installed on the inside of your attic. ENERGY STAR qualified roof products do include roof coatings. These roof coatings would always be applied to the roof on the outside. The coating would provide solar reflectance, so that the roof is cool to the touch it will not absorb the heat, and thus transfer less heat into the inside. More on ENERGY STAR qualified roofs.
