LED bulbs do not need to be recycled in the same manner as CFLs since LED bulbs do not contain mercury. Consumers can dispose LED bulbs as they would traditional incandescent bulbs.
However, because some of the LED components can be recycled, some stores and recycling centers will take back LED bulbs. We recommend that you contact your local municipal solid waste agency for appropriate recycling guidance or go to Earth911 to identify local recycling options for LED bulbs. You might also want to contact the organizations listed at the EPA's e-Cycling Web site as they might include LED bulbs under their electronics recycling programs.
