Will a home plan that earns the 'Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR' meet ENERGY STAR requirements when it is built? Follow

A home built according to a “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” home plan does not automatically earn the ENERGY STAR certified home label, because field verification is required to ensure that the energy-saving measures specified in the home plan are incorporated during construction.  This field verification may be performed by the same rater who reviews the “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” home plan.

“Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” includes requirements for the energy-efficient features and construction details that are found in ENERGY STAR certified homes (i.e. Thermal Enclosure System, HVAC System Quality Installation, Water Management System, and ENERGY STAR certified lighting and appliances).
