I have a central air conditioning (CAC) split system and only need to replace the outside condensing unit.  Do I have to replace both the outside condenser and the inside evaporator coil in order to claim the tax credit? Follow

You have to replace both the outdoor condenser and the indoor evaporator coil in order to claim the tax credit, because the system will not perform at the tax credit levels unless both are replaced.

EPA recommends that you replace the indoor unit when replacing the outdoor unit. An old indoor coil will not work efficiently with a new outdoor unit.
