For ENERGY STAR certification per the Luminaires specification, should my decorative pendant luminaire be categorized as a directional down light? Or should it be categorized as a non-directional luminaire? Follow

Due to the aesthetic nature of this product category, categorization needs to be determined on a case-by-case basis. The testing laboratory should make this judgement based upon the "Directional Luminaire" and "Direct Lighting" definitions at the front of the specification. A pendant downlight with a highly polished reflector and opaque housing might be categorized as a down light, while a pendant with translucent decorative glass might be categorized as non-directional.
