No, these products cannot currently certify as ENERGY STAR. The ENERGY STAR program certifies full-size and compact refrigerators and freezers. The current ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for Residential Refrigerators and/or Freezers covers products that meet the definition of a refrigerator, refrigerator-freezer, or freezer, as defined by the U.S. Department of Energy's Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards Program but does not cover the following products:
- Wine refrigerators (also referred to as: wine cooler or wine chillers)
- Kegerators (also referred to as: beer coolers or beer refrigerators)
- Beverage chillers (also referred to as: beverage centers)
EPA may consider the inclusion of these products in future product specification development.
Please note that while the ENERGY STAR program currently excludes the above products, some are subject to minimum efficiency standards.
