Is there a tax credit for window films? Follow

In 2011 window films can NOT qualify for the tax credit because the criteria was changed to only those windows that qualify for ENERGY STAR, and window film cannot qualify for ENERGY STAR.


In 2009 and 2010, some windows films could qualify for a tax credit. See below for details:

How much:

30% of the cost (not including installation/labor costs), up to $1,500


Tax credit in effect in 2009 and 2010. Must be installed in your "principal residence" between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.


Window films can qualify if the manufacturer certifies that it meets the requirements of a "qualifying insulation system." Make sure you get a "Manufacturer Certification Statement" that certifies the product meets the requirements.
