Do ENERGY STAR homes cost more? Follow

An ENERGY STAR certified home may have a higher initial cost compared to a comparable home without the energy-efficient features. However, you’ll pay less in utility bills each month, usually more than enough to offset any increase in your mortgage payment. Further, some lenders offer special mortgages called energy efficient mortgages or EEMs for buyers of energy efficient homes. For more information about EEMs, go to https://www.energystar.gov/newhomes/mortgage_lending_programs/energy_efficient_mortgages.
