Must be installed in your "principal residence" between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2016.

Details:

Furnaces & Boilers: AFUE of 95 or greater

(AFUE= Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency)

New construction and rentals do not apply

Find qualified models:

There isn't a single list of all heating products that are eligible for the tax credit. AHRI lists their member’s products. Some additional products are on the ENERGY STAR list.

Furnaces:

1) Search the AHRI List Exit ENERGY STAR 

  • Select "Furnaces" under the Residential product list
  • In the 2nd column, last item "Eligible for Federal Tax Credit" select ‘AFUE’
  • Enter the code in the box at the bottom, and hit "Search"

2) Search the ENERGY STAR certified furnaces list for models with an AFUE of 95 or greater

 Boilers:

1 ) Search the AHRI List Exit ENERGY STAR   

  • Select "Boilers" under the Residential product list
  • At the bottom of the 1st column, select “YES” to "Eligible for Federal Tax Credit"
  • Enter the code in the box at the bottom, and hit "Search"

 2) Search the ENERGY STAR certified boilers for models with an AFUE of 95 or greater

How to apply:

File Tax Form 5695 with your taxes.  Exit ENERGY STAR

You must have a Manufacturer's Certification Statement to qualify.
